CAIRO - 2 July 2020: Prosecutor General Hamada el Sawy held a virtual meeting Wednesday with a team of Italian investigators, under Rome's top prosecutor, to discuss the latest developments of an investigation into the case of the murder of Italian student Giulio Regeni in Cairo four years ago.

Sawy stressed Egypt's keenness to discover the truth behind the murder of Regeni away from information disseminated by media about the case.

He affirmed that cooperation between the public prosecution offices of both countries would help facilitate legal procedures and find out the truth behind Regeni's murder.

The top Italian prosecutor, meanwhile, expressed his desire to hold more meetings in the near future with Sawy to exchange information and documents about the case.

He also praised steps taken by the Egyptian prosecution to unravel circumstances of Regeni's murder.

He added that the Italian prosecution is ready to provide Egypt with all documents it requests to continue investigations into the case
