CAIRO, July 1 (MENA) - Arab League Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Hossam Zaki said on Wednesday that the Syrian crisis is passing through a very difficult time as military confrontations continue in light of a fragile ceasefire.

His remarks came in the speech of the Arab League at the 4th Brussels conference on supporting the future of Syria and the region that was held via the video conference.

He warned that terrorist groups are reuniting once more while the political process stopped despite efforts for reviving that process. Also, he added, the humanitarian crisis is becoming severe in light of an increase in the number of the displaced and deteriorating economic conditions.

He underlined United Nations statistics that up to 80 percent of the Syrians are living under the poverty line and more than nine millions are suffering from lack of food security.
