CAIRO - 19 June 2020: Minister of Health Hala Zayed said Friday that a presidential initiative for treating people with chronic diseases will be launched on Saturday.

Launched under the "100 million healthy lives" initiative, this new campaign targets encouraging and supporting chronically ill people to follow up their health conditions easily at hospitals, health centers, and convoys nationwide, Zayed said in a meeting held at the Health Ministry.

The campaign will start in eight governorates as of next week; beginning from Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia on Saturday, and then to be followed by Fayyoum, Menoufia, Sharqiya, Alexandria, and Beheria later in the week.

Patients suffering chronic diseases are urged to head to hospitals or health centers that are close to their place of residence to check their health condition and get their treatment for the coming three months, Health Ministry's spokesman Khaled Megahed said.

Safe passages have been designed and allocated for them at hospitals and other public health facilities to ensure that they do not come in contact with other patients so as not to get infected with any contagious diseases especially coronavirus, Megahed added.
