CAIRO, June 14 (MENA) - Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad on Sunday said the turtle in Wadi El Gemal Nature Reserve in Marsa Alam was attacked by 1.5-meter-long wild fish not a shark as some websites has claimed.

Examinations conducted by the experts in the protectorate showed the attack of the turtle was a natural matter according to the marine food chain that places the sea turtle at the top of nutrition pyramid of big fishes, the minister said.

The attack is one of the forms of environmental balance in the Red Sea marine environment and utterly doesn't pose any threat to Marsa Alam tourists, she noted.

Fouad noted that no need of taking any further precautionary measures by bodies concerned with organizing tourist activities in Marsa Alam once the marine activities are resumed.
