CAIRO - 5 June 2020: The UN is strongly committed to supporting Egypt to overcome the challenges ensued from the global outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), UN acting resident coordinator in Egypt Cristina Albertin said on Friday.

In press statements on the World Environment Day, Albertin said this target can be achieved through giving priority to environmental sustainability and natural resource management as part of the country's response priorities and recovery plans.

The core of these priorities is represented in supporting national efforts to manage natural resources in Egypt, reduce environmental risks, boost the local economy and maintain a greener society, she said.

It is time to continue efforts to preserve the environment and consider sustainable development as a driver for growth, she added.
