CAIRO, April 5 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli followed up efforts of the cabinet's "medical relief committee" over the past month, especially in light of the state's measures to fight the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Over 400 calls for help were handled during March, Chairman of the Committee Hossam El Masry told the prime minister during a meeting on Sunday.

These included bone marrow transplantation procedures, bone surgeries, dermatologic surgeries, treatment of burns, ophthalmologic surgeries, treatment of rare diseases, blood transfusion and providing prosthetic appliances, El Masry pointed out.

In addition, as many as 68 decrees were issued to provide treatment to emergency cases at the state's expense, he added.

The committee has been following up with keen interest all forms of violence against children and homeless population and coordinated with the ministry of social solidarity to provide all necessary care to them, the chairman said, noting that some of whom were taken to social care facilities.

Moreover, the committee has monitored a number of false reports circulated on social media to solicit financial aid by misusing sick children's photos, and necessary legal action has been taken the individuals behind these reports, El Masry said.

He urged all citizens to verify the authenticity of these reports and inform the government bodies concerned of any fund-raising posts they come across on social media.
