CAIRO - 20 June 2017: Mubarak-era Minister of Interior Habib al-Adly filed an appeal before the Court of Cassation on Tuesday against a seven-year prison sentence on charges of seizure of public money allocated to the Ministry of Interior treasury.

On May 17, 2017, Cairo’s Criminal Court rejected the appeal filed by Adly’s lawyer Farid el-Deeb against the seven-year sentence.

Adly did not attend the court session on Tuesday as he was receiving medical treatment at a hospital, Deeb told the jury.

The former minster’s name is still on a travel ban list, as he still has to serve the prison sentence as per the court’s April decision.
