CAIRO, March 30 (MENA) - Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawy Monday said coordination is underway with the World Bank to fund rapid interventions to the Upper Egypt development program in the governorates of Qena and Sohag to alleviate the impact of the anti-COVID 19 precautionary measures on the program beneficiaries.

The minister made the remarks during a meeting with Mohamed Nada, a senior urban specialist at the World Bank Group, along with Head of the Local Development Program in Upper Egypt Hesham el Helbawy and his deputy at the premises of the ministry.

The rapid aid interventions intent to meet the goals of the Upper Egypt Development program that prioritize supporting workers enrolled in the program as well as the impoverished families in Qena and Sohag, the minister said.

A three-month long urgent plan will be outlined alongside probing offering in-kind support for the most needy families and the irregular workers, he added.

Also, coordination is underway to provide medical equipment for the hospitals and medical units as well as the sterilization products to villages, the minister said.
