CAIRO - 26 March 2020: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has thanked the Egyptian people for their abiding by the night curfew imposed.

In a Thursday Facebook post, Sisi expressed his appreciation for the citizens as they show cooperation with the government and responding positively to its measures in the face of coronavirus.

“I also thank various state institutions, the Armed Forces, the police, and all those who run the comprehensive healthcare system for their sincere efforts in all directions,” Sisi said.

The curfew, imposed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., began Wednesday and will last for 15 days. It is the latest measure against Covid-19 after schools and universities were suspended and commercial activities stopped in the night time.

The tally of those confirmed sick with the novel virus stands at 514, while the death toll is 24.
