CAIRO - 20 March 2020: The Foreign Ministry said that the Egyptian embassy in Khartoum is following up measures taken to bring home Egyptians in Sudan ahead of the closure of borders between the two countries.

In statements on Friday, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptian Expats Yasser Hashem said that Qastal border checkpoint between the two countries was opened on Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, to bring back home stranded Egyptians.

The terminal was closed on Friday, March 20, as part of precautionary measures taken by both countries to combat the spread of coronavirus, he noted.

In this regard, Khartoum coordinated with all parties concerned to ensure the safe return of Egyptian citizens to homeland, amb. Hesham said.

Also, the Egyptian embassy in Khartoum thanked all officials in both countries for their efforts in this respect, a matter that facilitated the return of Egyptians to homeland
