NOUAKCHOTT, March 14 (MENA) - Mauritania's Minister of Health Nazir Ould Hamid confirmed the first case of novel coronavirus in the country.

In a statement broadcast by the state TV, the minister added that a foreigner has tested positive for the COVID-19.

The patient entered the country on March 9 and has self-quarantined after interacting with a positive coronavirus case in Europe.

The ministry called on the citizens to be cautious and abide by the precautionary measures.
