CAIRO - 7 March 2020: The Kuwaiti Cabinet decided to suspend air flights from and to seven countries, including Egypt, for a week, as a preventive measure to control the spread of Coronavirus.


As per a cabinet’s statement the decision stipulates that all flights from and to the Kuwait International Airport to Bangladesh, Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt shall be suspended for a week.


So, the number of countries with which Kuwait suspended its flights increased 16 states as Kuwait already suspended its flights to and from China, Hong Kong,Iran, South Korea, Thailand, Italy, Singapore, Japan, and Iraq since the virus outbreak.


The Egyptian State-owned EgyptAir apologized for the suspension of its flights to Kuwait on March 7 due to the Kuwaiti cabinet’s decision, until further notice.





Kuwait’s decision was issued after Egypt confirmed 12 new cases of coronavirus c(Covid-19) on board a Nile cruise ship in Upper Egypt., raising the number to 15 caes. The 12 staff members did not show any symptoms, according to a statement from the Eygptian Ministry of Health.


As of March 7, 2020, the positive cases of coronavirus announced in Kuwait reached 58 people coming from Iran.
