CAIRO – 2 March 2020: The Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed said Monday that China gave technical documents illustrative of the precautionary measures taken against coronavirus outbreak.

Zayed, who flew to China on Sunday, added that she received 1000 coronavirus detectors from the Chinese government as a gift to the Egyptian people.

The minister flew to China after being tasked by President Abdel Fatah al Sisi to learn the Chinese experiment in dealing with the coronavirus outbreak, meeting the officials, and exchange documents and expertise.

Zayed had also invited the Chinese officials to participate in the Arab-Chinese forum scheduled to be held in Cairo during the upcoming months.

In a press conference held on Sunday, the World Health Organization (WHO) bureau in Cairo stated that all world countries will be equipped with coronavirus detectors within a week and that those will be delivered to Egypt in two hours.

The organization added that the region and the world consist of labs that can diagnose infected individuals whose number is currently 11,953 mainly in China. The virus evolves in 20 percent of patients, and incurs the death of two among every 100 patients. Yet, the infection rate is still unknown.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health has previously announced the second coronavirus case detected is a foreign expert working for an oil company located 120 kilometers from the north-western governorate of Matrouh.
