CAIRO – 18 June 2017: Egypt welcomes the Syrian government's decision to cease fire for two days in the southern city of Daraa, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid in an official statement released Sunday.

The statement called on Syrian opposition to abide by the cease fire decision in an attempt to reach permanent cease fire all over Syrian territories.

Zeid stressed Egypt’s stance that believes in a political solution to the Syrian crisis, which saves the unity and liberty of Syrian territories and meets the aspirations of its people, in the light of Geneva negotiations and UN Security Council’s resolutions.
