CAIRO – 29 January 2020: Youth loves Egypt Foundation organized a major campaign to remove wastes from the banks of the Nile River.

A total of 120 volunteers, who are members of the foundation and its partners, will take part in the campaign, which will kick off on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Scouting Club in Giza.

The campaign is held in cooperation with Giza Governorate, and the Ministry of Irrigation.

Such activities are part of Clean Shores 2020 that was launched by the foundation in coordination with the United Nations Information Center to achieve sustainable development goals in North Africa.

In 2018, the United Nations Environmental Program selected the Youth Loves Egypt Foundation as an official representative in the celebrations of the World Environment Day, which came under the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”.

The role of Youth Loves Egypt raises awareness of environmental issues, and natural reserves in particular.

Youth Loves Egypt's members volunteer four days a week to teach visitors of protected areas about the history of these areas and how to preserve them.

Many other African counties have launched initiatives to put an end to plastic hazard. As part of the initiative, the Ministry of Environment has launched a public advertisement campaign to raise awareness on the hazard of plastic bags.

Many animals die after swallowing these plastic bags. Plastic bags are also often burned, releasing toxic fumes into the atmosphere.
