CAIRO - 25 January 2020: On the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the police day, the first memorial to honor the martyrs of Luxor Governorate was inaugurated on Saturday in the presence of the Governor of Luxor and the Director of Security, advisor to Luxor Governor for Projects Asaad Mustafa told Egypt Today.

Mustafa added that the memorial is allocated beside Luxor hospital on an area of 450 meters and around it a green area about 4 thousand meters in full, pointed out that this memorial will be a memorial plaque of honor for all martyrs from the people of Luxor Governorate.

Egypt celebrates on Saturday the 68th anniversary of the Egyptian Police Day. It also comes to coincide with the January 25 Revolution that took to the streets in 2011, demanding the overthrow of Mubarak’s regime in a series of mass protests that broke out in several Arab countries in what was called then “Arab Spring Revolutions.”

Former President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak issued a decision to consider the day an official holiday ‘Police Day’ in February 2009, in appreciation to police efforts, and recognizing their sacrifices.
