CAIRO - 5 December 2019: Health Minister Hala Zayed said that nearly 2.7 million women have undergone medical checkups as part of an initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to improve people’s health.

Kicked off in July 2019 as part of the presidential 100 Million Healthy Lives initiative, the first phase of the women health campaign included examining more than 2.1 million women, spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said.

Meanwhile, 510,259 women have been screened in the campgain’s second phase, launched in November, Megahed added.

The second phase covers the governorates of Cairo, North Sinai, Red Sea, Kafr el Sheikh, Ismailia, Suez, Menoufia, along with Beni Suef, Sohag, Aswan, and Luxor.

The location of the health campaign’s medical units could be known through the official website http://www.100millionseha.eg. Complaints also could be received through the hotline 14335.

The spokesman added that the campaign aims to examine 30 million Egyptian women whose age is above 18 for diabetes, hypertension, obesity diseases and breast cancer with treatment to be provided for all detected cases for free.

He said the campaign also seeks raising women's awareness of health culture and the importance of early examination so as to avoid short -and long- term health complications, adding that it also aims to promote reproductive health and family planning.
