CAIRO - 26 November 2019: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed the regional and international issues with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud on the sidelines of the Arab League's ministerial-level meeting.

According to a statement released by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Hafez on Tuesday, Shoukry started the meeting by congratulating Prince Faisal on his assumption of the post of foreign minister.

The minister stressed the deep strategic relationships between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and the close ties between the two countries.

Egyptian Parliament member Soliman Wahdan said that Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman’s visit to Cairo on November 26, 2018 was an important step for boosting the strategic relations between the two countries.

He further stressed that the Riyadh-Cairo relationship is "unique", saying that Cairo-Riyadh's strong ties bring stability to the Arab region.

Egypt and Saudi Arabia lead the Islamic world against Iranian and western plots which seek to divide the region, according to Wahdan's statement.
