CAIRO – 17 November 2019: The Egyptian parliament will discuss the presidential decree on accepting a grant from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on Tuesday.

The lawmakers will tackle a joint report by the transport and economic committees on the 2019 decree. The grant was agreed upon by EBRD and the Ministry of Investment on Aug. 19, 2019 to renovate trains.

The 555,343 euro grant will be directed to purchase about 100 new trains for the Egyptian National Railways (ENR). A specialist adviser has been appointed to help ENR in the purchases, especially in preparing technical specifications, procurement and manage contracts.
