MOSCOW - 9 November 2019: The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday advised citizens to avoid travelling to Iraq in the near future due to the unstable situation in the Arab country.

In its travel advisory, the ministry warned citizens against visiting Iraq, citing the critical situation in several Iraqi areas and difficulty in providing consular assistance there, RT channel reported.

Visiting Iraq would pose major threats on the Russian citizens there, it said.

Protests and demonstrations against the deteriorating living conditions, high unemployment rates and corruption have been hitting the Arab country since early October.
