CAIRO – 27 October 2019: Alexandria Port Authority launched new projects, including a new railway station, to increase investments and trade through the ports.

The new project, Pavement 55, is one of the most important projects at Alexandria Port, where most imports and exports are carried out.

With an estimated cost of L.E. 2.4 billion, the new railway station will be designed to connect Alexandria Port with 6 October dry port, which is the first of its kind in Egypt.

It is planned to establish a 60-km railway line linking El-Manashy and 6 October ports. The station aims to serve the dry port in 6 October city, and avoid overcrowding of cargo and containers at the sea port.

The project also aims to support the Egyptian economy by raising imports, facilitating internal and external trade movement, and reducing the cost of cargo transport.

Besides improving the logistical services provided, the new station also targetsreducingthe impact of the traditional transfer on the environment, in addition to achieving integration between various internal and external means of transport.
