CAIRO – 4 October 2019: Military Production Minister Mohamed al-Assar met with Atanas Bogdanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bulgarian state-owned arms manufacturer VMZ Sopot, the ministry said on Friday, to discuss cooperation.

During the meeting, the ministry highlighted its primary role in meeting the needs of the Egyptian armed forces and police concerning ammunition, weapons and equipment.

The surplus production capacity is also used to manufacture various civilian products and contribute to the implementation of national and development projects in the country, the ministry said in a statement.

The meeting also displayed the capacities of the military production companies, especially those working in the field of arms and ammunition production. The two sides discussed cooperation in developing the method of manufacturing various munitions produced by military production companies, as well as cooperation to manufacture new types of ammunition.

For his part, Bogdanov expressed confidence in the possibilities and technological capabilities of the Egyptian ministry in the field of ammunition manufacturing of all kinds, and expressed his readiness to open prospects for cooperation to extend to various areas of military manufacturing and deepen manufacturing technology

The two sides also agreed to exchange visits of technical delegations to identify aspects of joint cooperation and work to implement them.
