CAIRO – 10 October 2019: Cairo Criminal Court postponed to December 1st the final verdict in terrorist Hesham Ashmawy’s lawsuit over involvement in terror attacks that killed more than 50 people as a result of terror attacks.

The case includes Ashmawy along with 207 other defendants who are members of “Bayt al-Maqdes” terrorist group, over committing 54 crimes, including the assassination of a police officer, attempted assassination of former Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim as well as orchestrating explosions that targeted several security facilities.

The prosecution has drawn a list of charges against the defendants including: establishing and leading a terrorist organization that aims to disrupt the constitution, violating citizens’ freedoms and rights, spying to a foreign organization “Hamas Movement;” damaging state utilities, premeditated murder and the possession of machinery weapon, ammunition and explosives.

Egyptian terrorist Hesham Ashmawy, who was handed in May to Egypt by the Libyan army; he will be judged in five lawsuits in which he earlier received verdicts in absentia after carrying out a number of terrorist attacks that caused the death of 54 army and police personnel and civilians.

Ashmawy was arrested in 2018 in Derna and handed over by the Libyan army to the General Intelligence Security (GIS) in Egypt in May.

The handing over of Hisham Ashmawy, the ex-military officer and the mastermind behind several high profile attacks in Egypt, was seen as a revenge for dozens of terror victims among army and police forces over the past years.

CAIRO - 29 May 2019: Local media outlets lauded the "great capture" of the most wanted Egyptian terrorist Hisham Ashmawy, who was arrested in 2018 in Derna and handed over by the Libyan army to the General Intelligence Security (GIS) in Egypt on Tuesday.
