Sisi’s speech at UNGA to tackle Africa, stances on regional issues

CAIRO – 24 September 2019: President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s Tuesday speech before the United Nations General Assembly will include various aspects of Egypt’s positions on political, economical and developmental issues regionally and worldwide.

The speech will dedicate a significant part to Africa, as Sisi is the current chairman of the African Union, and Egypt’s efforts to promote the development of the continent, presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady told Egypt Today.

Sisi is also expected to meet with a number of world leaders on the sidelines of UNGA’s 74th session.

The Egyptian president has already met with his U.S. counterpart, where President Donald Trump said the relationship with Egypt is “better than ever before” in terms of trade and business. Trump also said he would discuss Libya with Sisi.

Sisi has also met with members of the American Chamber of Commerce, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, King of Jordan Abdullah, Iraqi President Barham Salih, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and President of Sierra Leone Julius Maada Bio.

Furthermore, Sisi delivered a speech at the Health Care session of UNGA, where he emphasized the highly successful anti-Hepatitis C campaign in Egypt.
