CAIRO – 21 September 2019: Police authorities in Sohag have managed, in 48-hours, to free a 14-year-old boy who was abducted for a LE3 million ransom.

A 27-old-woman, Sherehan Salah, bought some fruits from the child’s father and asked him to let his son drive her home with his Tuk Tuk (auto rickshaw).

After 12 hours, the father received a phone call demanding LE3 million in ransom for his son’s release.

The child, named Gerges Wadie, was surrounded and kidnapped by the rest of the gang, which included seven other men, and was threatened to be killed in case his father refused to pay the ransom.

Immediately, Gerges’ father filed a police report, upon which authorities coordinated with the Criminal Investigation Department and conducted the necessary interrogations and investigation to track down the location of the gang.

Forty-eight hours later, the forces were able to identify the criminals; two of them were found to be neighbors of the child's father.
