CAIRO - 20 September 2019: The State Ministry of Military Production seeks to localize the production of concentrated solar power (CSP) technology and manufacturing of solar stations’ components in its affiliate companies.

For that purpose, Minister Mohamed al-Assar met on Friday with Hany al-Nokrashy, international energy expert and member of the scientific advisory council to the president of Egypt, to discuss possible cooperation. The meeting was also attended by Osama Kamal, chairman of Smart Company operating in the engineering solutions sector.

Nokrashy made a presentation on Gemma Soler, the world’s first solar station that generates power during the night having the capacity to store solar energy for 15 hours. It is located in Spain’s Seville city.

The expert explained that such technology is about installing a group of mirrors in a precise order and in precise angles to ensure the sun rays are reflected on a specific focal point that turns them into thermal energy used to generate electricity through generators. As such, electricity can be produced 24/7.

Nokrashy explained that CSP stations can be built in Upper Egypt and remote areas to serve certain cities without adding load on the main grid. He added that they can be established on coasts to generate power needed by desalination plants.

Kamal presented the timetable and financial plan to accomplish the project suggesting that funding comes from Egyptian banks.
