Military operations starts for Iraqi forces with air support against Daesh south of Mosul

BAGHDAD - 10 September 2019: Nineveh Operations Command announced the start of a military operation for Iraqi forces in southern Mosul and with air support.

A source in the Nineveh operations told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that "the military operations started, backed by air strikes by the international coalition on Hawi Kan’os village in the district of Qayyara south of Mosul and river islands in the district of Shirqat, where adjacent areas between the provinces of Nineveh and Salahuddin."

"The military operations came against the backdrop of ISIS infiltration in these areas," he added.
