CAIRO – 5 September 2019: There are indications of an extensive campaign led by extremist figures on a “misleading” T.V. channel against U.S. Islamic centers that seek the social and cultural integration of Muslims in America, the Observatory for Monitoring Takfiri Fatwas and Extremist Ideologies said Thursday.

The campaign will target these organizations and Muslim personalities based on their “moderate” stances on Arab governments, added the observatory, which belong to Egypt’s Dar al-Iftaa.

Al-Jazeera platforms are the main podium for defamation campaigns on those who oppose the stances of the Muslim Brotherhood, the observatory said in a statement.
Lately, the Islamist group has attacked every single institution that resists its control in Egypt and abroad, according to the statement.

The defamation campaigns ultimately work on undermining the trust enjoyed by some Muslim figures and Islamic centers amongst Muslims in the U.S. The Muslim Brotherhood casts doubt on the intentions and behavior of such people and accuses them of profiting from their announced positions and events. They also accuse these organizations of weakening Muslims in the U.S., in an attempt to alter the reality, the statement said.

But such campaigns distort these Islamic organizations, derailing Muslims from the core challenges they face in the West and reducing them to political and electoral stances, while the main issues of Muslims there lie in the social and cultural reality.

The observatory said the achievements f these organizations include establishing comprehensive social activities for Muslims by building educational centers such as Zaytuna College and developing the work of mosque Imams in the U.S. to entrench the values of coexistence and integration, as well as provide financial and health support for American Muslims.

These organizations have taken a decisive stance rejecting violence and terrorism and have sought to establish a moderate religious discourse that is true to the principles of Islam that is based on communal peace, the observatory said.

It demanded full support for the organizations to counter both Islamophobia and extremism and integrate Muslims in the West.

Such campaigns shatter the efforts dedicated to deal with the challenges of Muslims and, in fact, serve Islamophobia and create discord among Muslims so the Muslims Brotherhood achieves their individualistic interests.
