Facade of National Cancer Institute badly damaged by blast caused by tragic fatal crash - Hussien Talal/Egypt Today

CAIRO, 5 August 2019: The facade of the administrative building of Cairo University’s National Cancer Institute was badly damaged due to the massive explosion that was caused by a fatal crash and fire that took place outside the medical edifice in downtown Cairo late on Sunday night, the university’s information office said.

All patients and staff members of the institute are fine, it asserted in a press statement.
It said that according to preliminary reports a speeding car traveling in the wrong direction of the road in downtown Cairo’s Corniche el Maadi street crashed into a number of vehicles causing the huge explosion just outside the institute which resulted in many fatalities and injuries especially among pedestrians in the street.
