CAIRO, July 31 (MENA) - Minister of Military Production Mohamed Sa'eid el Asar and Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawy met Wednesday with officials from China's Foton Motor to discuss a venture to jointly manufacture electric buses.

Foton officials reviewed potentials of the buses that should be manufactured in Egypt based on a signed contract.

They said that Foton Motor is currently exporting electric buses to Egypt, taking into consideration the factors of operation and environment.

Minister Shaarawy said that manufacturing electric buses in Egypt is part of a government plan to upgrade the fleet of the public transport authority with the aim to solve a traffic problem in the capital.

The plan is also meant to improve services offered to citizens, he added.

Shaarawy highly appreciated the Military Production Ministry's approach to encourage this industry in Egypt.
