40 civilians killed, wounded in northern Afghanistan mortar attack

KABUL - 5 July 2019: Taliban militants shelled a local market in the northern Afghanistan province of Faryab province, leaving at least 40 civilians dead and injured, Khaama Press news agency said.

The 209th Shaheen Corps said in a statement that the Taliban militants shelled Khwaja Shabz Posh market earlier Friday.

The statement added that the Taliban militants fired multiple rounds of mortars and rockets on market.

The 209th Shaheen Corps said the shelling killed four civilians and wounded 36 others including children.
