Al Azhar reflects moderate spirit of Islam, says official

CAIRO, July 4 (MENA) - Dr Kamal Boraiqa Abdel Salam, the general coordinator of the religious dialogue center, an affiliate to Al Azhar, praised the moderate doctrine of Islam adopted and promoted by Egypt's prestigious institution.

Al Azhar has always presented correct understanding and explanation of the Holy Quran and the Prophet Muhammad's Sunna, Abdel Salam said in a meeting with young leaders from different world countries.

The meeting focused on the role played by Al Azhar to promote moderate teachings of Islam and fight extremism.

Abdel Salam warned of attempts to take Al Azhar's interpretations out of context.
