CAIRO - 2 July 2019: The National Social Insurance Authority signed on Tuesday a cooperation protocol with Misr El Kheir Foundation to pay the overdue social security taxes of irregular workers and owners of micro businesses for them to receive pensions.

The case of each defaulter will be examined independently to evaluate their social and legal status. The debts of eligible defaulters will be fully paid while the lawsuits against them will be dropped.

The initiative will include widows who failed to pay the fees due to the authority after the death of their spouses classified as irregular workers or owners of micro businesses.

In March, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi announced raising pensions by 15 percent with a minimum increase of LE150, while setting the minimum pension at LE 900 in FY2019/2020 that started on July 1.
