CAIRO – 25 May 2019: Sudanese Transitional Military Council Chairman Abdel Fatah al-Burhan arrived in Cairo to meet with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Saturday, Sky news reported.

President Sisi and Burhan would discuss the latest political development in Sudan following the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11. Burhan’s visit to Cairo comes following his trip to Saudi Arabia, where he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman.

Four days ago, President Sisi received a letter of thanks and appreciation from Burhan in response to the congratulatory message sent to him on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Shortly after Bashir’s regime was removed, Egypt expressed its “full confidence” in the ability of the Sudanese people and their “loyal” national army to overcome the challenges of such “decisive” stage and meet the Sudanese people’s aspiration to achieve stability, progress and prosperity.
