CAIRO, May 13 (MENA) - The Health Ministry and Italy's Eni S.p.A. on Monday inked a cooperation protocol aiming at support the Egyptian health sector and benefiting from Italian expertise.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health hailed the role played by the Petroleum Ministry in directing foreign companies operating in the oil field to participate in Egypt's health reform process in line with the interest of the political leadership.

It also expressed keenness on enhancing cooperation with the Italian side in general and ENI in particular, especially in implementing the health initiatives undertaken by the Egyptian state for the benefit of the citizens.

The ministry praised support provided by the Italian side in raising the efficiency of the human resources, which contributes to providing high quality healthcare.

The cooperation protocol covers supporting the fresh comprehensive health insurance project through equipping two family medicine units in Port Said.

It also includes training medical cadres through short-term missions to Italy, recruiting Italian professionals to train Egyptian medical staff, transferring Italian experiences in the establishment and operation of burn units, equipping a burn unit at Giza's Haram Specialized Hospital and studying the establishment of a new burn unit at Port Said General Hospital.
