CAIRO - 13 May 2019: The Ministry of Health and Population is establishing 268 clinics across the country for early detection of hearing impairment where check-ups, treatment, and medicine are provided free of charge.

The working hours of those clinics is from 9:00 until 15:00. The service is offered within a campaign called “A Dignified Life” securing care for the disabled, the homeless, and the poor.

The Ministry of Health and Population will replace and renew dialysis machines and water systems at 400 hospitals across the country, Treatment Sector Head Mostafa Ghanima said in April.

In January, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi announced the establishment of as many as 1,000 kidney dialysis units bankrolled by Tahya Misr Fund to mainly serve children with kidney failure.

In October, Minister Hala Zayed announced that the state would cover the difference in the cost of dialysis sessions as the cost of each session jumped from LE200 to LE350.

The minister clarified that the budget of state-funded healthcare increased compared to 2017, and that 25 percent of that budget is allocated for dialysis as each patient needs 156 sessions per annum.
