CAIRO – 10 May 2019 : President Abdel Fatah El Sisi held a meeting on Thursday with the Cabinet members tackled digital services availability at a suitable cost for the institutions and citizens.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli along with ministers of defense and military production, foreign affairs, planning, finance, interior affairs and communication and information technology in addition to chairman of Administrative Control Authority, director of military intelligence and director of the department of information systems in the Armed Forces.

The meeting tackled efforts exerted to develop the capabilities of the state via a unified mechanism for digital transformation, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said in a statement.

Egypt started the digital transformation of all state’s services by canceling documentation on paper nationwide and introducing the digital system to save both money and time.

Sisi directed to continue coordination with the concerned bodies in the state in order to make these digital services available and affordable, he added.

The year 2018 was a significant year for Egypt’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, where it was awarded membership in the Administrative Council of the International Telecommunication Union.

Also, the contribution of ICT to the gross domestic product (GDP) grew 14 percent year-on-year in FY2017-18 compared with FY2016-17. In line with Egypt’s vision to attract foreign investment and rebuild the Egyptian citizen, Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat announced his ministry’s strategy during the three years and stating the current figures of ICT sector at American Chamber monthly luncheon meeting.
