CAIRO – 13 April 2019: The Transitional military ruling council of Sudan announced that a new interim civilian government will be formed, lifting the one-month curfew imposed after the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir.

In a statement, new head of the transitional military council Abdel Fattah Burhan announced on Saturday that the council will hold consultations with the all political parties to form an agreed-upon civilian government. He added that the transitional period will last for two years.

He also announced that the curfew has been lifted and all protesters who political detainees will be released.

Burhan was swore on as the new head of the transitional council, after his predecessor Minister of Defense Awad Bin Auf had resigned one day following the ouster of al-Bashir.
