CAIRO – 10 April 2019: The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Tuesday's terrorist attack in Sheikh Zowayed, North Sinai which left two police officers, two policemen, and three citizens including a six-year-old child dead.

That is in addition to 26 injuries among civilians who were transferred to the hospital to receive treatment.

Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Sufian Salman al-Qudah stated on his Twitter account that Jordan stands in solidarity with the Egyptian government and people in the face of terrorism that aims to harm Egypt's security, stability.

Meanwhile, the European Union condemned the attack, where the union's Ambassador to Egypt Ivan Surkos tweeted "We condemn the recent suicide attack in North Sinai that resulted in casualties among policemen and civilians."

Surkos said the EU stands hand in hand with Egypt in the fight against terrorism, stressing that "without security, sustainable social and economic development is not possible."

In February, eight terrorists were killed in North Sinai by the Egyptian Armed Forces, and two car bombs were destroyed.

Terrorists in North Sinai attacked a force concentration earlier in Feb. The fire exchange resulted in the death of seven terrorists and 14 injuries among military personnel.

The Armed Forces launched an anti-terror campaign in February 2018 to eliminate terrorism in North Sinai after a mosque was targeted and more than 300 civilians died.

“The Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018” has succeeded to eliminate hundreds of terrorists, confiscating the firearms and explosive devices they possessed and destroying the vehicles they used.

Police forces, also taking part in the Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018, had killed seven terrorists in Arish earlier in February. Five others were killed in a raid that took place a month earlier in the same city.
