CAIRO, April 9 (MENA) - Environment Minister Yassmin Fouad said that Egypt plays a crucial role in negotiations related climate change during its chairmanship of the Group of 77 (G-77) plus China and out of its commitments towards African states during its presidency of the African Union.

This came at the inauguration of "Germany's Energiewende"— A travelling exhibition on Germany’s energy transition at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

In a statement on Tuesday, the minister said Egypt is abiding by its international commitments in the field of climate change within the framework of agreements on climate action and the Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS): Egypt Vision 2030.

She also lauded cooperation with Germany in the field of environmental protection.

She further underlined that "Cairo Climate Talks" aims at creating a societal dialogue to raise awareness of climate change and its impact.

Cairo Climate Talks is a series of monthly events meant to provide a platform to exchange experience, raise awareness and foster cooperation between policymakers, the business community, the scientific community as well as civil society.

The exhibition was opened by the minister of environment and Sönke Siemon, the Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Cairo.
