CAIRO, April 2 (MENA) - Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir and Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Men'em el Tarras, conferred Tuesday on efforts to support joint cooperation in the railway sector.

Local industrialization is important, said Wazir, stressing that his Ministry is keen on localizing the railway industry because this will benefit the Egyptian economy.

Manufactured products should be in line with high technical standards and should cope with advanced technology to be able to upgrade the railway system and improve services offered to passengers, the minister noted.

Tarras said the AOI supports the strategy of the Transport Ministry to go local. He touched upon big potentials of the Railway Authority in this regard.

The meeting also tackled a number of projects co-implemented by the two sides.

Wazir and Tarras agreed on forming a joint committee to expedite the implementation of projects and remove obstacles facing them.
