CAIRO – 31 March 2019: Rain is forecast on Egypt's northern coastal cities on Monday due to the gathering of intense low clouds, the Egyptian meteorological expert said in a statement on Friday.

The rains will cover areas of the Mediterranean cities, the Delta and Cairo, while mild weather will prevail on Upper Egypt, the statement added.

Maritime navigation was suspended in the Mediterranean governorates since a wave of cold weather hit Egypt on Friday. However, inlets of Alexandria and El-Dekheila were opened on Sunday morning amid calls for exercising vigilance, the Alexandria Port Authority announced in a statement.

Trade maritime navigation went normally in Suez Canal on Sunday as a total of 44 vessels with 2.2 million tons of cargos crossed the canal from both directions, announced Chairman of Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish in a statement.
Meanwhile, the inlet of Rashid port were closed and fishing stopped due to heavy rains and high waves.

After being closed for one day, the Red Sea Port Authority opened all the governorate's ports , except for Sharm El-Sheikh port due to the high speed of wind. All security and safety measures were taken in all inlets nationwide.

Temperatures are as follows:

Cairo: 12 - 19 °C
Alexandria: 12 - 18 °C
Mersa Matruh: 10 - 17 °C
Sohag: 12- 22 °C
Qena: 12 – 22 °C
Aswan: 13 – 23 °C

Early in March, unstable weather with a slight decline in temperature and speed dust hit Egypt. Thunder and lightning hit Cairo, accompanied by heavy rains in some coastal cities, Qalyubia and Kafr El-Sheikh (Delta).
