CAIRO – 27 March 2019: “Egypt's stance is consistent towards the Golan Heights, which are considered an occupied Arab land under international legitimacy resolutions,” said Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry Wednesday.

This came during his meeting with his American counterpart Mike Pompeo at the premises of the US Department of State, according to a statement issued by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Hafez.

The meeting tackled bilateral ties between Egypt and the US in addition to regional issues and means to reach a peaceful settlement to the crises in Libya, Syria and Yemen.

The statement reported that the two sides reiterated keenness on boosting cooperation in different domains for the interest of both countries. They also agreed on intensifying political consultations and exchanging bilateral visits within the coming period.

Hafez’s statement added that the two ministers discussed rallying efforts to face regional and international threats and achieve stability in the Middle East. The meeting tackled a number of regional issues, topped by the Palestinian cause.
