WELLINGTON - 16 March 2019: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern visited on Saturday the scene of Friday's terrorist attack that targeted two mosques in Christchurch City, leaving 49 people dead and 48 others injured, the BBC reported.

Ardern is scheduled to meet at hospital with those who have been injured in the mass shooting. Eleven of the wounded are in critical condition, including three children aged 2, 3 and 13 years.

The main suspect in the shootings, Australian Brenton Tarrant, 28, appeared in court earlier in the day on a single murder charge. Further charges are expected to be made against him.
