CAIRO – 5 June 2017: Qatari students will be allowed to continue their study in Egypt without restrictions regardless of the prevailing circumstances between the two countries, Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said in a statement on Monday.

Egypt has broken off the diplomatic relations with Qatar earlier today, giving the Qatari ambassador in Cairo 48 hours to leave the country, the Foreign Ministry announced.

Ismail asserted that the Cabinet follows up the development of the decision in coordination with the Foreign Ministry, pointing out that the government formed a committee to look into the Egyptian expatriates’ situation in Doha.

In regards to Qatari investments in Egypt, Ismail noted that it is too early to decide on the future of Qatar’s investments.

Five countries, namely Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Yemen, announced cutting off relations with Qatar for supporting terrorist groups.

Qatar asked citizens to leave the UAE within 14 days to comply with a decision by Abu Dhabi to sever ties with Doha, the Qatari embassy in Abu Dhabi said on social media.
