Dentist jailed after conducting gynecological check on patient

CAIRO - 29 January 2019: A dentist was jailed on Monday for four days pending investigation over accusations of sexual assault after conducting a gynecological check on a female patient in Qena governorate, Upper Egypt.

After suffering from toothache, the woman went to the dentist’s in Farshot village in Qena governorate. Exploiting her ignorance, the dentist deceitfully persuaded the woman that the main cause of toothache boils down to inflammations in her ovaries and examined her.

When the woman went back home, she told her husband, who got angry that his wife was sexually assaulted and filed a lawsuit against the dentist.

The Health Directorate in Qena decided to suspend the dentist pending investigation.
