CAIRO – 28 January 2019: All social media accounts of the US Embassy in Cairo were re-activated after being shut down for a month by the American government.

“The embassy is happy to announce that with the signing of a continuing resolution for the U.S. federal budget, we are able to resume normal activity on our social media accounts at this time,” the American Embassy in Cairo stated on its official Twitter account.

The senate agreed on the new public budget proposed by US president Donald Trump after the closure of some federal administrative agencies due to the heated argument between the White House and the Democratic party.

Such argument cut wages on 800,000 employees. It was settled to finance these agencies until February 15.

“Due to the lapse in U.S. government appropriations, the American Center Cairo (ACC) is closed. U.S. Embassy Consular Services will continue to function. For further updates, please monitor U.S. Embassy Cairo’s website and the social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram,” the US Embassy in Cairo tweeted on January 14.
