CAIRO - 5 December 2018: Egypt's Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lt. General Mohamed Farid on Saturday congratulated Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria in Abbasiya's Cathedral of St. Mark on the occasion of Christmas.

Zaki expressed the pride of the armed forces in their national positions, which have always affirmed that the Egyptians are united in a single homeland, stressing that Egypt will remain a unique model among the peoples in moderation, tolerance and rejection of fanaticism and terrorism.

Pope Tawadros II thanked the armed forces for their great role in serving the nation and protecting its security and stability.

Tawadros praised the tangible efforts of armed forces in supporting civil society and building houses of worship especially El Fattah El Aleem Mosque and the Nativity of the Christ Cathedral in the New Administrative Capital.

He said that the New Year represents a source of hope and bright future for Egypt, which needs the efforts of its loyal sons, led by the brave armed men who are giving real gifts for Egypt.

The meeting was attended by the leaders of the main governmental branches and a number of armed forces leaders.
