CAIRO – 4 December 2018: Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad, who is currently heading the United Nations Conference on Biological Diversity, met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterich Tuesday on the sidelines of the current climate conference held in Poland.

During the meeting, Fouad stressed the need to abide by the terms of the Paris Agreement to ensure that developing countries are on the development paths, taking into account the effects of climate change on these countries.

“Egypt will do its best to make the conference a success through its presidency of the Group of 77,” the minister said.

Fouad referred to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi's support to all environmental issues, especially climate change, both at the political and technical levels.

She hoped that the developed countries would fulfill their commitments and that Egypt would help reach an agreement that is fair and just for all countries

During the meeting, the secretary-general also expressed hope that the current negotiations would lead to an agreement between all parties, especially with regard to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
