CAIRO - 18 November 2018: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese consecrated three altars and icons in the renovated Cathedral of St. Mark in Abbasiya.

The cathedral - which marks the 50th anniversary of its construction - was closed for three years for renovation.

A host of priests, bishops and Copts attended the event which was held under tight security.

The cornerstone of this edifice was laid on 24 July 1965 in a ceremony attended by late president Gamal Abdel Nasser.
